THE TOUR

A wildlife photography tour and workshop covering four locations in wonderful Sri Lanka, one of the most biodiverse countries on the planet.

DATES:  1 - 10 September 2024
LOCATIONS: Sinharaja Rainforest Reserve, Yala National Park, Kumana National Park
PRICE: $5850.00 AUD SINGLE SUPPLEMENT: TBC
PAYMENT: Payment is via EFT transfer via online banking or contact Craig to make alternative arrangements.
RESERVE A PLACE: Deposits of $1000 per person accepted to reserve a place (non-refundable within 60 days of tour commencing).

INCLUSIONS:

The tour price includes expert local guiding and daily photography instruction from Craig and Nico, travel within Sri Lanka for the duration of the tour, all accommodation and supplied meals (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner), all transport within Sri Lanka for the duration of the tour, and all entry fees to parks included in the tour itinerary.

EXCLUSIONS:

The tour price does not include international flights to and from Sri Lanka, accommodation in Sri Lanka prior to or after the tour program begins, extra meals other than those included as above, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages or expenses of a personal nature (e.g snacks, internet, laundry, travel insurance, tips etc.) 

THE GUIDES

Craig Greer

Craig is based in Tasmania where he runs bird and wildlife photography workshops and tours. His interest in wildlife goes back to his childhood growing up in the bush in Victoria and Tasmania.

In recent years, Craig has combined his love of nature, wildlife and photography and has spent countless hours photographing a diverse range of animal species, particularly bird life, from Adelaide to Alice Springs and Malaysia to Bruny Island.

Craig was a finalist in the 2021 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year Award and has a background in hospitality, teaching, training and communications. His photos have been published widely.

Nicolas Rakotopare

Nicolas Rakotopare Originally from Madagascar, Nicolas (aka Nico), is an ecologist and professional wildlife photographer and film-maker based in SE Queensland. He has filmed wildlife throughout South-East Asia and the sub-continent, including Sri Lanka.

Nicolas is an excellent communicator and enjoys sharing both his ecological and technical knowledge with others. 

Recently inducted into the International League of Conservation Photographers, he is passionate about promoting important conservation outcomes for endangered species.

Nicolas is also a sought-after wildlife and nature film-maker. He has shot material for BBC Earth, Netflix and is currently shooting for an upcoming National Geographic series.

LOCAL GUIDE

In Sri Lanka we work with one of the country’s premier wildlife guides with an unmatched reputation for getting guests incredible views of the country's amazing wildlife, particularly leopards. You are guaranteed to come home with some fantastic images and wonderful memories.

Of the 91 mammal species found in Sri Lanka, leopards, Asian Elephants, Sloth Bears, Purple-faced Langurs, Sambar Deer and Water Buffaloes will be highlights. Bird life is the jewel in Sri Lanka’s crown with species such as Sri Lankan Blue Magpie, Sri Lankan Grey Hornbill, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Asian Paradise Flycatcher, Crested Serpent Eagle, multiple kingfisher and woodpecker species, Chestnut-crowned, Blue-tailed and Green Bee-eater, Emerald Dove, Sri Lankan Frogmouth, migrating Greater Flamingos and more.  A vast array of species will fill the memory cards of reptile lovers, including Green Pit-viper, Hump-nosed Lizards, Kangaroo Lizards, Green Forest Lizards, Mugger Crocodile and more.  

This tour is non-stop wildlife photography action from beginning to end, with photography support and instruction from Craig and Nico.

Day 4. Transfer to Yala National Park and afternoon safari Accom: Lalan Yala, Tissamaharama
Day 5. Full day safari in in Yala National Park targeting leopards and a range of species Accom: Lalan Yala, Tissamaharama

Day 7. Transfer to Kumana National Park Accom: Bay Vista, Arugam Bay

REFUND POLICY

In the event you book and need to cancel your tour the following refund policy applies:

The $1000 deposit is non-refundable.

Partial refund: A partial refund of 50% will be provided if a booking is cancelled between 30 and 60 days prior to tour commencing.

No refund will be provided for cancellations within 30 days of the tour commencement date.
